Spring Improv

Last Friday in the Lecture hall, I watched the spring improvisation. The show was amazing and hilarious. Basically, a group of people were standing there and based on the suggestions from the audience, they would imagine the scene and acted it out. For example, three performers(I cannot remember who they are) are astronauts and they are in the space. One imagines that she does not wear the space suit so another tells her to hold her breath. But because she cannot hold it anymore, she dies in the space. Because the ending is hilarious, audience is clapping and laughing. I think through this performance, performers can practice the skill of improvisation. So by practicing this, performers can involve or put himself/herself in the play easily. Not only that, sometimes this skill can be extremely useful when performers forget their scripts. While they forget what next sentence is, instead of standing there, they can improvise it out. Talking about my favorite part of the show, it has to be the translation one, which is two people who come from different regions and people standing behind them need to translate for them based on their body movements, their voice, and their facial expressions. This kind of game is actually helping performers to understand one's emotion/feeling. The "translator" needs to know what feelings the person express, so that he/she can translate words that relate to that feelings. In this improv I did not see any huge mistakes or weaknesses. If it still needs to have one, probably the volume of their sound. Sometimes when they were talking, I could not really hear them since I was sitting in the back. But overall this is a great show, every performers are awesome!
