Who are you and why are you taking this course?(David Wang)

My name is David Wang, a Chinese student who has been in Cheshire for two years. Before I came here, I thought I was just an ordinary people who can easily be found on the street; but when I came here and picked up my clarinet, I found out that I do have some abilities that make me unique. Besides the clarinet skill, I do have something else interesting or important to me, like walking on the prairie for four days, and raising dog.

I learn how to play clarinet since I was in 3rd grade. At that time, the sound of it just attracts me so hard so that I learned and practiced it for the next three years. But after I became a middle school student, I abandon it. Not because I got bored, but I had a bunch of heavy works to do in the middle school; It was gradually aloof from my life and I thought I would never play the clarinet again. But by an accidental opportunities, I joined in the CA Orchestra. During the practice, I found out that I still remembered the fingering, so I determined to keep this skill and never abandoned it again. Now it becomes a part of my life; because once I have free time, I will use it to play the clarinet. Playing the clarinet also makes my life much easier. Before, when I got a lot of pressure, I do not know how I can release it. Right now, just by playing the clarinet, stress is going to be relieved.

This picture is the certification of hiking on the prairie. My sister signed up for me in the summer and the original thoughts for her is that this activity can makes me lose weight. When I knew this activity, I got shocked. Because how can I walked 100 km on the prairie in four days? And where should I live? And where can I take shower? Also, the road is too dangerous; every steps have to be careful because it got a lot of rocky grounds and there are many animals' dung on it. But my mind totally changed after I made it. Everyday we woke up at 5:30 am and started hiking at 8. In that damn hot day, we need to walk till the evening. I also got glorious scars on my body, which is the proof that I defeated the gigantic mosquitos. Although my legs hurt after the journey, but I thought this was a pretty precious memory. Because all the way through this journey, I made a lot of friends. And I also understood a truth that "Never give up, and you will be successful."
This is my dog, Tiger. Keeping a dog is like raising a child. When he was a child, I have to take care of everything. Like I need to play with him, buy the food he wants, teach him to abide rules. Because I took care of everything, I knew how hard for adults to raise a child. So every time when I want to bickering with my parents, I will try the perspective-taking, so that I will stop the quarrel.

The first reason I take this course is that this is a IB course, so it is challenging for me. And the second reason is that I want to practice the speaking skill or performing skill when I talk with others. I hope through this course, I will not be scared to talk with others.  :)
